I had the privilege of shooting some amazing weddings last year, but there are a few that really stood out due to offering something totally different.  This post is about Katie and Mark’s bespoke wedding at Thornbridge Hall.   What can you say about this exclusive wedding venue.  Well, the gardens are stunning, the old stately home is packed with character, it has amazing grounds and even hosts a nightclub in the basement.

For the pre-wedding shoot we had a walk around the grounds and Katie and Mark were instantly a pleasure to work with.  Not to mention they are both insanely good looking – did I mention one of the guests said Mark and myself looked like brothers?

When the day finally arrived I made my way inside the house for the first time and was blown away by the place, the stylish decor is infused perfectly with the character of the old stately home.  Michael the wedding coordinator was fantastic all day and directed me to the the bridal suite where the girls were getting ready.  In the morning we had the whole house to ourselves and I was able to find some beautiful spots for the detail photos around the magnificent Great Hall.

When I got to the bridal suite the girls were in a joyful mood, with lots of laughter, dancing and gin drinking.  The first tear of the day belonged to Katie’s father during the first look, and you could understand why as Katie looked stunning in her dress.  Whilst the girls got dressed I nipped to meet the lads in the games room where they were enjoying a game of pool and a few beers from their own personal bar.  The perfect environment for the gents who all looked very dapper in their black and white suits.

The ceremony took place in the Great Hall which looked amazing with elegant white flowers provided by the amazing Meadowsandmulberry.    After the ceremony the guests moved onto the South Terraced Lawn, providing the perfect setting for the drink receptions and photographs.  The grounds at Thornbridge are simply immense, with stunning views of the Derbyshire landscape, dense woodland and Italian Gardens.  Perfect for the couple photos.  The wedding breakfast was held in the bright and airey Carriage House where the party really got started, the worst part of the day was having to leave as it was an epic and unforgettable day.
