I first met Hannah and Robin at another wedding I was shooting near York. We had a good chat and they informed me that they were getting married, but unfortunately they had already arranged a photographer. No, I wasn’t touting for work, I just like to talk and socialise with guests when I get the opportunity. 🙂 Anyway, a few weeks later they got in touch as the wedding photographer they booked was pregnant. Luckily I wasn’t pregnant, and I was free and very happy to step in as their day sounded amazing – and guess what, it was!!!

I have shot at some wonderful venues, but this place was right up their with the very best. Hotel du Vin is a beautiful Grade II-listed mansion that has been restored in style maintaining all its character. The whole place was exclusively booked out for the wedding, with a variety of rooms and nooks for guests to relax in. I was most impressed with the awesome cigar shack and the very cool wine tasting room – from the look of the photos the boys were too.

The bridal preparations took part at the couples home just a couple of miles away from the venue. The girls were all having fun and tucking into a well prepared feast when I arrived. It was actually a super relaxed morning whilst we waited for Kenny and his classic VW Campervan to chauffeur the bridesmaids.

The venue hasn’t got vast grounds but there are so many great spots for photos, either outside around the building or inside in one of the stylishly decorated rooms or on the sweeping staircase. Having met at the hotel for the pre-wedding shoot we already had a good idea of the photos we wanted.

As usual with amazing weddings the time pasted too quickly and it was suddenly time for the first dance – once Robin had sorted the music out!! 🙂

It was a unbelievable day, and the bride and groom were so welcoming and easy to get on with, and will remain good friends. It was an absolute pleasure to be able to capture their special day and here are a few of my picks…
